Types of Conflict: The fight between various and conflicting forces is the definition of conflict, and it is this conflict that propels a tale forward. Man versus. society and man vs. nature are two instances of conflict in literature. Conflict in the workplace functions similarly to conflict in literature, except it halts development rather than advancing it. It might cause employees and bosses to become more anxious and tense. Productivity frequently declines when worry and stress rise.

Types of Conflict

  • Interpersonal Conflict

The term “interpersonal conflict” refers to a disagreement between two people. This usually happens as a result of how individuals vary from one another. We all have different personalities, which leads to irreconcilable choices and viewpoints. It seems to be a natural phenomenon that may ultimately aid in personal growth and the development of interpersonal connections. In addition, making modifications is required while dealing with this form of disagreement. When interpersonal dispute becomes too harmful, though, bringing in a mediator may assist to settle the situation.

  • Intrapersonal Conflict

Intrapersonal conflict arises inside a person. The event takes place in the individual’s thoughts. As a result, it is a psychological conflict involving the individual’s beliefs, values, ideals, and emotions. Interpersonal conflict may take many forms, ranging from little annoyances like selecting whether or not to eat organic for lunch to important life choices like choosing a professional route.

Furthermore, if you have trouble deciphering your inner conflicts, this form of conflict may be very tough to address. It causes agitation and unease, and it may even lead to melancholy. In such situations, it is essential to find a means to communicate with others in order to let go of the worry.   • Intragroup Conflict

Intragroup conflict is a form of conflict that occurs inside a group of people. Intragroup conflict results from these people’s incompatibilities and misconceptions. Interpersonal conflicts (e.g., team members with diverse personalities may cause tension) or differences in viewpoints and ideas cause it (e.g. in a presentation, members of the team might find the notions presented by the one presiding to be erroneous due to their differences in opinion).

Within a team, disagreement may aid in the development of choices that will enable them to achieve their goals as a unit. However, if the level of disagreement is such that it undermines the members’ unity, it will need substantial counselling from a different party to be resolved.

  • Intergroup Conflict

When there is a misunderstanding among various teams inside an organisation, it leads to intergroup conflict. An organization’s sales department, for example, may clash with its customer service department. This is owing to the fact that these various organisations have a diverse set of aims and interests. Furthermore, competitiveness leads to the emergence of intergroup conflict. Other elements contribute to the escalation of this sort of conflict. Some of these variables may be a resource competition or the boundaries that a group develops with others in order to build their own identity as a team.

To some, disagreement may seem to be an issue, but this is not how conflict should be seen. On the other hand, it provides a chance for development and may be a powerful tool for fostering communication among groups or people. When conflict, on the other hand, starts to stifle production and leads to further problems, conflict management is required to find a solution.
